Industry-Leading JHSC Training
Looking for comprehensive Joint Health and Safety Committee training? Our CPO-Approved JHSC Part 1 and 2 courses ensure you understand your responsibilities and OH&S regulations.
Creating a safe, compliant workplace starts with a clear understanding of health and safety responsibilities. Joint Health and Safety Committees (JHSC) play a key role in supporting a strong safety culture, especially as a mandatory requirement for workplaces with more than 20 employees.
Certification helps committee members recognize hazards, assess risks, and take meaningful action to improve workplace conditions. To complete certification in Ontario, participants must finish both JHSC Part 1 and Part 2, which can be delivered through instructor-led training (ILT) or a combination of online training for Part 1 and ILT for Part 2.
Whether you’re just joining your workplace committee or renewing your credentials, Danatec’s CPO-approved JHSC Certification program equips you with the knowledge and skills to fulfill your legal duties under Ontario’s Occupational Health and Safety Act (OSHA). Learners can complete the full certification through two pathways:
1. Attend five consecutive days of distance instructor-led training (ILT) for both Part 1 and Part 2, or
2. Take JHSC Part 1 online at your own pace (approximately 13 hours), followed by a two-day live ILT session for Part 2.
Both formats cover all required topics—from the legislative framework and hazard recognition to workplace inspections and incident investigations—so you can confidently apply best practices in your role as a JHSC member.
Danatec’s training courses equip workers with the proper knowledge and tools to conduct workplace inspections and participate in incident investigations. Upon completion of both parts of the JHSC certification training, learners will be able to:

Any workplace in Ontario with 20 or more employees is required to have a JHSC and at least two certified JHSC members (one worker, one management-level worker).
Part 1 of JHSC training covers legal duties, committee roles, OHSA legislation, and basic committee functioning. Part 2 dives into specific hazards (e.g. slips/trips/falls, ergonomics, hazardous products, psychosocial risks, violence/harassment) and applies Part 1 concepts through inspections and investigations.
Every three years, you can take Danatec's 1-day JHSC Refresher course to maintain JHSC certification. Training includes key concepts and updates to legislation, standards, and best practices.
Refresher training must be completed prior to a current JHSC certifications expiry date.
You can complete Part 1 online, either by yourself at your own pace or attend an instructor-led session. For Part 2, you can complete it online by attending an instructor-led session.
This course is fully online and self-paced, with an approximate duration of 13 hours. JHSC Part 1 concludes with a 31-question final exam, requiring a passing score of 75%, with two attempts allowed.
