Laying concrete is physically demanding, time sensitive and hazardous work.  Concrete is a heavy, hazardous material that is designed to manufacture, deliver, place and finish in ninety minutes.  This means quality work on a concrete site must be safe and quick.   This course will provide learners with the knowledge to work safely with concrete in construction in all aspects of the work from preparation of the site to finishing.   Key safety awareness topics are discussed including first aid for concrete exposure, working with ready mix trucks, extruders and concrete pumps, working safely with hand tools and the importance of proper body positioning to avoid injury.  This course is a thorough review of the many hazards on a concrete work site as well as the specialized terms, tasks and equipment that the learner could encounter on site.  It will help learners identify potentially dangerous situations related to concrete in construction and how to avoid injuring themselves or others.

This course is intended for anyone who works with concrete in construction.  The course content includes real worksite video with key concepts and terms reinforced by text and imagery and quizzes throughout based on on-the-job scenarios.  There is a final exam with an 80% pass rate required to complete the course and obtain the certificate.
