Driver Safety Training
Built for Canadian Roads

Road Safety is Everyone's Responsibility

Driver-related incidents remain one of the leading causes of workplace injuries and fatalities in Canada. Whether you’re driving a personal vehicle or operating a commercial truck, challenges like extreme weather, fatigue, distracted driving, and complex safety regulations put drivers at risk every day.

That’s why We Know Training, Danatec, and Fleet Safety International have partnered to deliver Canada’s most trusted driver safety training.

Together, we deliver more than training—we deliver a comprehensive safety solution designed to reduce risk, protect lives, and keep fleets and organizations compliant across Canada.

  • Fleet Safety International (FSI) brings over 40 years of industry expertise and its proven SAFER™ System (Space, Attitude, Foresight, Eyesight, Responsibility)—a model that has helped thousands of drivers prevent incidents and make smarter decisions behind the wheel.
  • Danatec adds award-winning online training and compliance programs, giving drivers and organizations the flexibility to learn anytime, anywhere—covering defensive driving, TDG, Hours of Service, cargo securement, and more.
  • We Know Training (WKT), as the parent company, ensures these courses are supported by enterprise-ready solutions, from bulk licensing and LMS integration to tracking tools that make compliance simple and audit-ready.

Supporting Drivers Across All License Levels

Drivers across Canada face different provincial and territorial licensing systems, but all share the same need for safer habits and compliance knowledge. That’s where Danatec and FSI come in.

We design safety and compliance training that supports drivers at every licence level—from new drivers to seasoned professionals.

While government programs like Mandatory Entry Level Training (MELT) are required for earning commercial licences, our courses enhance driver readiness and compliance long after licensing. With a focus on defensive driving, fatigue management, TDG, Hours of Service, and cargo securement, we help organizations and drivers stay ahead of risks, regulations, and audits.

Many commercial and non-commercial drivers must also comply with Transportation of Dangerous Goods (TDG) regulations. For more details about our TDG courses and resources, check out our TDG training page.

FAQs about Driver Safety Training

Is Danatec’s training recognized by provincial regulators?

Yes. Many of our courses are provincially approved, such as the 3-Demerit Reduction program in Alberta, and all are built to align with Canadian federal and provincial safety standards. Organizations across Canada trust Danatec to keep their fleets safe and compliant.

What’s the difference between Class 5 GDL and non-GDL?

In several provinces, including Alberta, new drivers start with a probationary or GDL licence (e.g., Class 5-GDL in Alberta, Class 7 in BC, G1/G2 in Ontario). After meeting requirements, they graduate to a full Class 5 (non-GDL) or Class G.

Our training helps drivers build safer habits that make the transition smoother and safer.

Who should take Danatec’s driver training courses?

Our courses are designed for all drivers—from new Class 5 drivers and company vehicle operators to commercial fleet drivers who need ongoing compliance training.

How long do the courses take?

Most online courses take 2–4 hours. Blended programs may include an instructor-led session for added engagement. Either way, drivers gain practical skills they can use immediately.

Can companies enroll multiple drivers at once?

Yes. We specialize in enterprise training with bulk enrollment, LMS integration, and compliance tracking—making it easy to manage certifications across your fleet. Contact our team for bulk discounts.

Will I receive a certificate after completion?

Yes. Every participant earns a digital certificate of completion, giving individuals and safety managers the documentation they need for compliance and audits.
