Paving is the final phase of road construction and is the act of laying asphalt down on the roadway.   Paving operations involve several stages with tasks completed by multiple workers or parties with various roles and responsibilities, all of whom rely on each other to work safely.   This course discusses the most common hazards present during all phases of paving operations and the controls that are available to keep the learner safe.   The learner will understand the steps required to pave a surface from milling to lay down operations with a complete overview of working safely with and around the many types of mobile equipment and vehicles on site, how location affects paving operations, the importance of traffic awareness, and first aid procedures for contact with hot ACP.

This course is intended for anyone who works in paving operations or road building – milling crew, paving crew, ground workers, testing personnel, heavy equipment operators and truck drivers.  The course content includes real worksite video with key concepts and terms reinforced by text and imagery and quizzes throughout based on on-the-job scenarios.  There is a final exam with an 80% pass rate required to complete the course and obtain the certificate.
