RSTS - M13 - Sewer and Water
Sewer and water construction is critical for infrastructure. It could involve laying new pipe or fittings in excavations or rehab work on existing water structures for maintenance or to repair damage. Sewer and water work is highly specialized, and workers must be competent and follow all safe work practices and procedures on site. This course is a thorough overview of the many hazards of sewer and water construction including working around utilities, restricted and confined spaces, line of fire hazards and working in hazardous environments. The learner is educated on safe work practices to use on site, the importance of planning and competency to perform assigned tasks. Various types of specialized work are discussed, such as CAD welding, valve isolation and tapping, and the controls available to remain safe while performing these tasks.
This course is intended for anyone who works in sewer and water construction. The course content includes real worksite video with key concepts and terms reinforced by text and imagery and quizzes throughout based on on-the-job scenarios. There is a final exam with an 80% pass rate required to complete the course and obtain the certificate.
