Reasonable Cause Supervisor Training (Online, Student Led Training)

Description
Shift OHS’ Online Reasonable Cause Supervisor Training provides practical, easy-to-understand guidance to help supervisors confidently navigate these situations. This self-paced course blends legal context with real-world application, helping learners understand not just what to do, but why it matters.
Learners develop the skills to conduct Fitness for Duty assessments, recognize observable signs that may indicate a worker is not safe to work, and respond appropriately in post-incident and Reasonable Cause situations. The course also provides insight into how refusals and positive test results are typically managed, helping supervisors understand their role within a broader organizational process.
Frequently Asked Questions
Reasonable Cause Supervisor Training prepares supervisors to recognize when a worker may not be Fit for Duty, determine whether reasonable cause for a formal assessment exists, and respond in a way that is legally defensible and aligned with their organization's Fit for Duty / Drug & Alcohol policy and applicable OHS legislation.

The course meets and exceeds the Supervisor Training requirements of the Canadian Model for Providing a Safe Workplace and U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations.
